Welcome to Euphoria Sailing Ltd Dylan Thomas cruise from Oxwich Bay or Swansea Marina.

This is how Dylan described these areas around Swansea in his early letters to his first serious girlfriend, Pamela Hansford Johnson.

You can take a yacht or sports boat trip and view the Gower peninsula by boat, giving you the opportunity to explore the coastline and view the Dylan Thomas Gower trail by sea. The trip would culminate in the breathtaking view of Worm's Head prior to returning to Swansea, which as Dylan described is....
"...the great rock of the Worm's Head...At the end of the humped and serpentine body, more gulls than I had ever seen before cried over their new dead and the droppings of ages."

The cruise details. . . . .
1. Meeting point at Dylan Thomas Square to absorb the tributes to Dylan Thomas. Embark the boats in the Marina and lock through to the River Tawe.

2. View Mumbles Bay as featured in 'The Mermaid'

3. Bracelet Bay and the Mumbles Lighthouse. In his autobiographical short story 'Old Garbo', young Dylan fantasises about taking a barmaid out to the dunes where, '...couples lay loving under their coats and looking at the Mumbles Lighthouse'.

4. Langland and Caswell Beaches. In 1934 Dylan and Pamela Hansford-Johnson were photographed on Caswell Beach. Also his good friend and political mentor Bert Trick had a chalet at Caswell that Dylan visited. It was there, in the early thirties, that Dylan told Bert of his plans to write a Welsh version of Joyce's 'Ulysses', the project that eventually became 'Under Milk Wood'.

5. View the hilltops of Bishopston and Pennard. Dylan's parents lived in Bishopston from 1937 and it was at their home in 1941 that he wrote his longest poem 'The Ballad of the Long Legged Bait'. His attraction to Pennard is that it was the home of the poet of Gower and perhaps Dylan's closest literary friend - Vernon Watkin

6. Rhossili Bay and Worm's Head. Dylan found inspiration for his story 'Extraordinary Little Cough' from his frequent visits with friends to this picturesque village on camping trips. Indeed the landscape and seascape permeates his early prose and not more so that in 'Who do you Wish With Us?' which features his graphic description of Worm's Head.

7. For the more discerning seafarers and weather permitting there is then an option to sail on to Carmarthen Bay and visit Laugharne. Dylan first moved to Laugharne in May 1938, he left in July 1940 only to return again in March 1949 to live at The Boat House. There could also be an opportunity to go ashore at the skippers discretion.

The price is £450 for the skipper & yacht Euphoria per day, there are up to 6 places. Includes Geoff Towns (owner of Dylan's Bookshop) as guide and local Dylan expert.

The price is £250 for the skipper & sportsboat Emosiwn per day, there are up to 4 places.

For larger parties both boats can be used at the same time for the cruise, giving people the opportunity of transferring between boats to experience the tranquility of sailing and the thrill of speed.

All refreshments and lunch can be provided if required with prices starting from £6 per person. All prices include VAT.

Wet weather gear and lifejackets are provided for all participants.

There could be opportunities to go ashore at given destinations, however this would be at the Skippers discretion. Stops will be made for photo opportunities and the boats will anchor in Oxwich Bay for lunch and some rest and relaxation.
